Phase 1:

COLLECT CAMPING GEAR!

Where does the gear come from?

FESTIVALS:

Our main goal is to salvage abandoned camping gear from music festivals- the amount of abandoned tent and canopy trash that we’ve seen, especially at larger festivals, is devastating! If a festival doesn’t have a waste management service for camping gear, RentyTent will go to these festivals to salvage gear for free. We will adopt the camping gear that is still usable, then properly recycle the unusable gear. However, the good news is that upon researching what happens with abandoned camping gear at festivals, I have discovered that a lot of festivals waste management companies do donate the gear to charity- this is amazing news! Because we don’t want to compete with community donations, our next question is, does the community (charities, nonprofits, unhoused institutions, etc.) ever experience an overload of donations based on the extremely large size of these festivals? If so, RentyTent will collect that gear that the community can’t take on, and utilize this gear to rent back to festival goers to put an end to one-time-use camping gear waste!

COMMUNITY DONATIONS:

Community donations is another way RentyTent obtains their camping gear! RentyTent advertises: “trying to get rid of some camping gear? We’ll pick it up for you!” RentyTent is based in Carbondale, CO so the current donations are anywhere from New Castle, CO to Basalt, CO! We will go as far as Denver/the front range to Aspen, CO for donations!

USED, LOCAL, OUTDOOR GEAR RETAILERS:

Because one festival and one waste management company have asked for our camping gear rental services before we’ve been asked to salvage abandoned camping gear, we currently don’t have enough inventory to provide for an entire festival. So in order to provide the proper amount of inventory, we are going to local, used outdoor gear retailers in Carbondale, CO to purchase good quality, well loved, camping gear. A big shout out to Ragged Mountain Sports in Carbondale, CO for providing us with some tents, coolers, and one canopy!

CAMPING GEAR RETAILERS:

If RentyTent is not able to salvage the full amount of gear that is needed to provide inventory for festivals in need, we will go to larger camping gear retailers as A LAST RESORT. But please don’t fret! We will reuse this gear over and over again in order to support our mission of reducing music festivals carbon footprint while hopefully ending one-time-use camping waste once and for all!

How Does it Work?

Let us explain how this whole process works! There are 3 phases: collecting gear, sanitization, and camping gear rentals!

Phase 2:

SANITIZE GEAR

Is this gear being cleaned? Yes! We sanitize the gear by: using sanitizing wipes on hard surfaces, then using water and Dr. B’s soap to clean the canopies and tents fabrics, lastly using NikWax to water proof it! We are still figuring out the best way to clean inventory in bulk; if you have recommendations , please email us at rentytentrentals@gmail.com!

Phase 3:

Rent the Gear to Festivals and Local Community

Who can rent the used camping gear?

Festival Attendees:

SnowyGrass Music Festival in Estes Park is the very first festival to ask for our services! We will be renting gear to the SnowyGrass attendees July 9-12 and be salvaging camping gear post festival. We will be signing people into their campsite areas, giving rentals, then providing an info booth within the festival for last minute renters. We hope to continue to rent gear to festival attendees at future CO based festivals summer of 2026, then hope to continue to expand! But please reach out if you need to rent gear for any CO music festivals this summer! We are currently renting gear to one individual to use for Alderwild Music Festival! We will be meeting them either outside the festival to grab their gear or within the festival because Devi Sprague (founder) will be attending.

Aspen Valley Adventurers:

Because RentyTent is based in Carbondale, CO, we also extend our camping gear rentals to anyone in the Roaring Fork Valley! If you have family or friends flying in to visit and they want to camp but don’t want to fly with their gear- we got you covered! If you’re traveling from abroad or don’t own camping gear- we got you covered!
